Jackie is doing really well. He's more alert this morning - I guess the drugs from surgery have worn off. He says his chest incision is starting to hurt and that his neck and shoulders are sore. Of course, it would be normal to be in some pain after something this major. But, he is doing fine.
It was L. Jackie and me that were visiting at 6 this morning and when B. Jackie mentioned he was sore I said, "Well, Big Brother, you'll get better every day."
He held up his hand like he was firing a gun and said, "Bang. I'm gonna start shooting everybody that says that."
L. Jackie said, "Well, do you think you're gonna get worse?"
"I sure hope not," was B. Jackie's response to that.
As you can tell from this exchange, he's feeling more himself.
They said they will probably move him out to a room either today or tomorrow.
Mary Ann went home last night, after staying for two nights in a row. We're encouraging her to get some rest. She asked Jackie if it would be OK if I stayed and he said yes. This morning he was telling me I should go home, too. I told him that was not happening - that someone would be here.
In ICU they have our cell numbers on the board in his room so we can move around the hospital a little bit and not worry about them not finding us if they need/want us.
I think that's all the news that is news on the Jackie front so far today, and I'm thrilled it's good news.
